SMP - Hair and Scalp Pigmentation

WHAT IS SMP?

Scalp micropigmentation is now recognized as one of the most Innovative and effective non-surgical solutions for hair loss or baldness and offers an alternative for those who do not wish to undergo hair transplant therapy.  SMP is a highly specialized process where tiny pigment deposits are placed within the dermis of the scalp, to replicate the appearance of buzzed hair. SMP can restore a receding hairline, camouflage scarring from past hair transplants or create the look of fuller thicker hair for those with thinning hair.  SMP is usually completed over the course of a few sessions with each session lasts 2-3 hours, which allows for a subtle gradual layering effect.

DOES SMP REGROW HAIR?

No. We frequently get asked this question. SMP is NOT a hair transplant. SMP gives the illusion of hair follicles. By eliminating the stark colour contrast of the hair against the skin, you immediately look like you have thicker/fuller hair or the look of buzzed hair. SMP does not affect or stimulate the growth of hair.

 

WILL THE INK TURN DIFFERENT COLORS?

The pigment that is used for SMP is very different from tattoo ink. It is formulated specifically for SMP so there is no risk of the pigment turning blue or green.

 

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

SMP is a non-invasive non-surgical procedure so there is no down time required. You may experience a small amount of irritation or swelling immediately after the treatment but most of our clients go back to work the following day.

DOES IT HURT? 

Most of our clients don't find SMP to be overly painful. There is some level of discomfort during the procedure but it is all dependent on your pain level as is most sensations, pain is very relative. Most clients rate the pain anywhere from a 3-5 on a scale of 1-10. However we do use a numbing agent to make our clients as comfortable as possible. 
 

CAN I GET A HAIR TRANSPLANT BEFORE OR AFTER SMP?

As long as there is enough time for the scalp to heal you can absolutely get SMP done after a hair transplant. We have had many clients that were not satisfied with the fullness that they got with a hair transplant so SMP was the perfect solution.
